And you're right about the framing... Calling it "what the left gets right" when the actual numbers I cited are 96% support on Social Security and majorities across party lines on corporate taxes and drug pricing, that's not a left position, that's a consensus position getting mislabeled as one... I can't believe I would have even worded it like that in the post because i usually am trying to point out the common ground that everyone is missing rather than handing anyone of a victory because it's not about victories and villains. If I'm going to spend the whole piece arguing that tribal framing is the disease, I shouldn't hand out a "left is right" headline as the cure. That's on me, fair catch.
Here's the distinction I was actually trying to draw, even if the header didn't earn it: political elites and media treat these issues like fringe-left talking points, when the polling says the public, across party lines, agreed on the diagnosis years ago. That gap is real, but you're right that "the left gets it right" isn't the honest way to describe a bipartisan consensus. Consensus problem, contested solution, exactly what you said. I'll take that note.
And that cause-versus-cure distinction you're drawing is basically the whole argument of a piece I wrote about the left-right axis being broken in the first place. The real fight isn't between two teams with different values, it's between people who think you fix a leak by finding where the pipe cracked and people who think you fix it by mopping faster. Deciding one guy is "the only one trying something different that might work is the same personality-first lens as deciding one guy is responsible for everything wrong with the country. I've also written pieces that largely Echo your sentiments overall, I believe as my biggest criticism of the left is there insistence on calling Donald Trump supporters stupid... It doesn't really matter if he is not a conservative because they don't like conservative either... And i still believe that the most interesting fact in the last 10 years is that 9 million Barack Obama voters voted for Donald trump.. this tells me that they voted for the man that offered hope and tried and were completely comfortable with voting for somebody else that offered anything but establishment politics... It wasn't about left and right ideology, just like if someone argued about the Republican and Democrat Party supporting left and right ideologies, they'd have a very hard time proving that because the ideologies that the country needs to look at are not left versus right because neither party fits into those boxes anymore..

Instead of trying to convince the Parties to change on my own I am, beginning, at the local level, bringing residents, regardless of party affiliation or lack of affiliation, together to get their opinions on, to start, two topics; elected official professional integrity and what do the local residents think the community problems are that need to be corrected to improve their community. This group will be a loose federation, if you will, that will use their collective voting power to influence local politicians and elections as well as inform office holders what the community thinks needs to be addressed, not just what the wealthy political doors think. If this works locally, I am making the initiative s scalable to expand tp the state and if successful, national levels.

You have to be careful about taking the medical marijuana in New Hampshire. Clearly this is a generational thing as none of the people above ever learned right from wrong. How many times do you need to steal $6 Billion before you have enough to live off of for the rest of your life? How does the rest of the country teach republican families that this is unacceptable behavior?
I agree with you on one important point: our children should learn that corruption, conflicts of interest, and abuses of power are unacceptable.
Where we differ is why I started my publication. I don't think this is fundamentally a Republican problem or a Democratic problem. It's a structural problem that has been getting worse for decades. Reagan marked a major turning point, but the decline in accountability continued under both parties.
As a lifelong Democrat, I think my own party has to accept responsibility too. We can't spend every election talking about how dangerous the other side is while refusing to examine our own failures. If we only criticize Republicans, nothing changes. If Republicans only criticize Democrats, nothing changes.
I don't see Donald Trump as the disease. I see him as a symptom of a system that had been weakening long before he arrived. Millions of Obama voters later voted for Trump because they wanted disruption, not necessarily his ideology. People were voting against a system they believed had stopped working.
That's why I've spent the last eight months writing about structural reforms instead of personalities. My argument is that America already has many of the laws needed to make capitalism work fairly. We've simply stopped enforcing the guardrails.

I also have far more faith in parents, teachers, coaches, and mentors than politicians when it comes to shaping children. I'd rather teach kids to judge everyone by the same ethical standard than to hate political figures. That's how accountability becomes something more than a campaign slogan.
As someone who is on the right, but does not feel supported by either side, I have to point out that the data you say that the left is right about? We all agree those are problems.
These are not left concerns. That’s why almost a complete consensus in a world so divided say these are important issues. They’re not issues the right denies. They’re issues we disagree on how to solve.
The left argues they have the solution, the right argues that you need to know what started the problem before you can identify how to fix it.
That’s my two cents from somebody who feels abandoned by his own side. The political parties as a whole, both are primarily concerned with just holding onto power.
In my opinion, and everyone has the right to disagree about the figure himself, I think it’s funny that the most hated politician in the world seems to be the only one trying to do anything different that might actually work.
The media‘s credibility is lost because people care about the issues, and they make everything about the personalities. They tell you who you’re supposed to hate regardless of what they’re doing.
Anything they are doing is only highlighted as additional reason to hate them. All context wiped away, except for reason number 1702 to hate this person and whoever supports them.
Whether you agree or disagree with my view on the political figure, my hope is that enough people stop wanting this message anymore that it loses complete power enough power that all of society‘s problems get blamed on one person.
We have so many problems as a society, there’s not a single person in the world we could be responsible for all of it. This is the failure of the system.
We need to be a people who are for something. Right now, we are people who are largely just against something.

And you're right about the framing... Calling it "what the left gets right" when the actual numbers I cited are 96% support on Social Security and majorities across party lines on corporate taxes and drug pricing, that's not a left position, that's a consensus position getting mislabeled as one... I can't believe I would have even worded it like that in the post because i usually am trying to point out the common ground that everyone is missing rather than handing anyone of a victory because it's not about victories and villains. If I'm going to spend the whole piece arguing that tribal framing is the disease, I shouldn't hand out a "left is right" headline as the cure. That's on me, fair catch.
Here's the distinction I was actually trying to draw, even if the header didn't earn it: political elites and media treat these issues like fringe-left talking points, when the polling says the public, across party lines, agreed on the diagnosis years ago. That gap is real, but you're right that "the left gets it right" isn't the honest way to describe a bipartisan consensus. Consensus problem, contested solution, exactly what you said. I'll take that note.
And that cause-versus-cure distinction you're drawing is basically the whole argument of a piece I wrote about the left-right axis being broken in the first place. The real fight isn't between two teams with different values, it's between people who think you fix a leak by finding where the pipe cracked and people who think you fix it by mopping faster. One pushback of my own, respectfully: the same critique you're making of the media, "reason 1702 to hate this person," cuts the other way too. Deciding one guy is "the only one trying something different that might work is the same personality-first lens as deciding one guy is responsible for everything wrong with the country. Same trap, different direction. I'd rather neither side get a hero edit or a villain edit. Mechanism, not mascot, both ways.
I've also written pieces that largely Echo your sentiments overall, I believe as my biggest criticism of the left is there insistence on calling Donald Trump supporters stupid... It doesn't really matter if he is not a conservative because they don't like conservative either... And i still believe that the most interesting fact in the last 10 years is that 9 million Barack Obama voters voted for Donald trump.. this tells me that they voted for the man that offered hope and tried and were completely comfortable with voting for somebody else that offered anything but establishment politics... It wasn't about left and right ideology, just like if someone argued about the Republican and Democrat Party supporting left and right ideologies, they'd have a very hard time proving that because the ideologies that the country needs to look at are not left versus right because neither party fits into those boxes anymore..

How do we convince Baby Boomers that meaningful reform doesn't have to come through the two-party system? That independent movements, or parties like the Forward Party, exist because millions of Americans have already recognized the limits of the current model? More importantly, how do we persuade Democrats that acknowledging the need for a reboot is a sign of strength, not surrender? I am taking a slightly different tac to address this problem. Instead of trying to convince the Parties to change on my own I am, beginning, at the local level, bringing residents, regardless of party affiliation or lack of affiliation, together to get their opinions on, to start, two topics; elected official professional integrity and what do the local residents think the community problems are that need to be corrected to improve their community. This group will be a loose federation, if you will, that will use their collective voting power to influence local politicians and elections as well as inform office holders what the community thinks needs to be addressed, not just what the wealthy political doors think. If this works locally, I am making the initiative s scalable to expand tp the state and if successful, national levels.

You have to be careful about taking the medical marijuana in New Hampshire. As a baby boomer I was always fine with a 2 party system principally because to be a member of Congress you literally had to be just left-of- center or just right-of-center. Basically even today we still all agree on most things ie; if you want to purchase something you don’t rush the register, you stand in line & wait your turn to pay. But Ronald Reagan really started this split. George HW Bush has 4 sons. The 4th son is never spoken about but he was at his father’s funeral. When Reagan deregulated the savings & loan industry this 4th son literally stole millions of dollars from retirees at a S&L called Lincoln Savings & Loan. Of course at the time George HW & his wife Barbara were basically humiliated but theft had a son who became governor of Florida then George W became president & bankrupted the world so certainly George HW & Barbara certainly instilled some very inaccurate ideas into their boys heads. Trump & every other baby boomer watched Reagan & two of the Bush sons publicly thieve and get away with it. Now we’ve watched Trump ‘see how much he can steal because he was clearly was raised with no moral standards at all but he proceeded this theft with the destruction of the capitol and physical abuse of capitol police and with the blessing of the 5 Supreme Court justices who were also raised with no moral standards. It makes you wonder what Barbara Bush & Trump’s mother were doing because they were clearly not being mother’s . They did not teach their children right from wrong. But I want to state we do have a 3rd party which everyone calls the independent party and this party does have representatives in Congress such as Bernie Sanders. The difference is you don’t see democrats & independents attacking & inflicting the capitol building, you don’t see democrats & independents intentionally stealing millions of dollars like the Supreme Court justices and stealing millions of dollars selling their votes to the highest (lobbies) bidder like the attorneys in Congress & Blanche the new attorney general who is charging Trump 100 times what any other attorney general to get trump off the hook every month that trump and his sons steal $6Billion from the American taxpayers. Obviously trumps two oldest sons also were never taught right from wrong by trump’s first wife and given his third wife was a prostitute goodness only knows if she taught his son Barron anything but as a parent you are supposed to lead by example and every month Barron sees his father steal $6Billion so it always makes you wonder where CPS was when this poor child was when he was being raised by these two horrendous people and what thoughts this poor kid has in his head about a career choice with these people as parents. Of course we have to wonder about all of the children of all the people I’ve mentioned above. While I hear the cries of the middle class & the working poor and the disabled and those with black & brown skin none of the people above took their children to their local library for reading hour or to select books to take home. These people did not snuggle into bed with their children each night to read them bedtime stories because those stories help parents to teach children right from wrong. Clearly this is a generational thing as none of the people above ever learned right from wrong. How many times do you need to steal $6 Billion before you have enough to live off of for the rest of your life? How does the rest of the country teach republican families that this is unacceptable behavior?
I agree with you on one important point: our children should learn that corruption, conflicts of interest, and abuses of power are unacceptable.
Where we differ is why I started my publication. I don't think this is fundamentally a Republican problem or a Democratic problem. It's a structural problem that has been getting worse for decades. Reagan marked a major turning point, but the decline in accountability continued under both parties.
As a lifelong Democrat, I think my own party has to accept responsibility too. We can't spend every election talking about how dangerous the other side is while refusing to examine our own failures. If we only criticize Republicans, nothing changes. If Republicans only criticize Democrats, nothing changes.
I don't see Donald Trump as the disease. I see him as a symptom of a system that had been weakening long before he arrived. Millions of Obama voters later voted for Trump because they wanted disruption, not necessarily his ideology. People were voting against a system they believed had stopped working.
That's why I've spent the last eight months writing about structural reforms instead of personalities. My argument is that America already has many of the laws needed to make capitalism work fairly. We've simply stopped enforcing the guardrails.

I also have far more faith in parents, teachers, coaches, and mentors than politicians when it comes to shaping children. I'd rather teach kids to judge everyone by the same ethical standard than to hate political figures. That's how accountability becomes something more than a campaign slogan.

As someone who is on the right, but does not feel supported by either side, I have to point out that the data you say that the left is right about? We all agree those are problems.
These are not left concerns. That’s why almost a complete consensus in a world so divided say these are important issues. They’re not issues the right denies. They’re issues we disagree on how to solve.
The left argues they have the solution, the right argues that you need to know what started the problem before you can identify how to fix it.
That’s my two cents from somebody who feels abandoned by his own side. The political parties as a whole, both are primarily concerned with just holding onto power.
In my opinion, and everyone has the right to disagree about the figure himself, I think it’s funny that the most hated politician in the world seems to be the only one trying to do anything different that might actually work.
The media‘s credibility is lost because people care about the issues, and they make everything about the personalities. They tell you who you’re supposed to hate regardless of what they’re doing.
Anything they are doing is only highlighted as additional reason to hate them. All context wiped away, except for reason number 1702 to hate this person and whoever supports them.
Whether you agree or disagree with my view on the political figure, my hope is that enough people stop wanting this message anymore that it loses complete power enough power that all of society‘s problems get blamed on one person.
We have so many problems as a society, there’s not a single person in the world we could be responsible for all of it. This is the failure of the system.
We need to be a people who are for something. Right now, we are people who are largely just against something.
