In a world of tldr, this is one of the most worthwhile things I’ve read in a long time. It helps my aching, aging heart to think my generation hasn’t fixed everything, but we have made some progress.

I live in Ohio, and I doubt we’ll be able to turn it completely blue this election cycle, but I do see us possibly returning to our proud swing state status.

Appreciate you saying that, and thank you for subscribing.

All positive feedback, disagreement, questions, corrections, new perspectives... it helps all of us better understand each other and the world around us, it's exactly what this publication runs on.

It's funny. I think a lot of people our age carry that same low-grade ache. We didn't fix everything. Not even close. But we did move some things that felt impossible when we were younger. Being able to hold both of those truths at the same time feels like the honest place to stand.

And Ohio? A state that can still swing is probably healthier than one that's permanently locked into either camp. The ability to persuade people is a sign that democracy is still alive.

As for this publication, I started writing it last September but only began actively promoting it in April. The response has honestly exceeded my expectations. We've already cracked the Top 100 in U.S. Politics twice and the Top 100 in Culture once over the past month. My goal is to build this into one of the most influential independent publications in the country by 2028, so you're definitely here near the beginning of the journey.

Thanks for reading, and thanks for taking the time to leave such a thoughtful comment.

To be fair, I think that there's a left wing concern that celebrating progress leads to believing that the fight is over. The solution is to amplify the voices of those who have the ability to communicate balance and nuance. We need to hear from people who can take the win and use it to maintain momentum for the rest of the fight.

@TMason68 do you think this would bring more people from the center to the table for actual change, as I believe a lot of people have forgotten what left and right even fight about these days?

I think that's exactly the distinction. Progress isn't the same thing as completion. The problem comes when every victory is treated as either meaningless or insufficient. A healthy movement should be able to celebrate wins, acknowledge remaining problems, and keep moving forward at the same time.
