I was sharing a bunch of my posts on Facebook and what I realized is that I end up fighting with people about things when I'm not trying to fight I'm just trying to be true to the point of my publication: talk about uncomfortable things that he's fact and objectivity and to make people challenge their assumptions.. And I get replies like communist. Socialist. Closet MAGA... It's like the entire platform, which is the biggest social media platform on Earth, has a bunch of people spending all day talking about politics with bumper sticker quotes!!!

I was so happy to read that I inspired you last night when I saw your Vineyard post... and now you're making a point about an observation that made me think I was crazy. You confirmed that my gut feeling was right about Facebook. I might not hit as many people on substack, as I do on Facebook but I certainly seem to hit a more intelligent population.
Your inputs is literally the reason that I started this publication. The back and forth that we have here actually will be read by other people. It's not always easy to write and force yourself to be uncomfortable in a way that you know is going to provoke people, while also trying to add enough context, nuance, and facts that while also trying to add enough context, nuance, and facts that it can possibly make them look at something different light... But when I see the division in the country today I know that it's the ultimate barrier to progress. Having fights about things online makes us ignore the biggest responsibility of a citizenry that wants to improve.. that's holding the people that represent us accountable..
You said it. I had to listen to this twice to make sure he actually said this out loud but this dude has brass balls. Not to mention I've read him for the entire nine months he's been writing and i know that he wrote a post in the past saying that it's not fair what they did to Kamala because she actually has real potential and they rushed everything. The point you made before was making her vice president 4 years after she came into the Senate, when she could have actually been seasoned and got the experience needed to be a real leader, it was an injustice to the diversity and feminism movement. I came into this expecting another defense of Kamala Harris, and I almost skipped it. I'm glad I didn't. You weren't arguing she would've been a great president. You were arguing that the Democratic Party set her up to fail and then blamed her afterward. I hadn't thought about it that way. I don't know if I agree with every point, but this definitely changed how I look at what happened.
This really resonated with me. I like Kamala Harris, and I think she was put in an impossible position. At the same time, I think Democrats made a huge mistake by fast-tracking her because she was a woman of color instead of giving her the time to build the kind of political foundation Obama, Biden, or even Clinton had.
I think that you are exactly right. I know for a fact that this country ranks 84th in women leadership in the world.. that's not just low and that's not justified. That's undeniably a problem in a democracy... Democracy is supposed to represent an entire population and half of your population is female and it represents a single digit of the power structure... then you're going to be missing 40% of the answers because you're missing 40% of the perspective.
Not if but when I address the one that caught my attention, your point here will rest as its conclusion to defining how we can yet, make for a much better democratic outcome flowing from the upcoming midterms.

This makes me thrilled to read Eduard. Truly. I wrote it knowing that it has a huge potential to be misunderstood but I tried to be as careful as I possibly could to make sure that if somebody actually read it or listen to the audio version that was transcribed into the written post that that you'll see that I'm just going over the facts in a way that is not popular (for some reason) in mainstream media. I didn't even get into my theory about why she was actually run in 2024 because there was really no way to do it without sounding like I was against her. Running on the merits is a transparency issue. If there is anything our political parties have demonstrated in the past is a lack of transparency. Transparency means you disclose your strengths as well as your weaknesses. This does two things. First it demonstrates integrity and second, it provides the candidate with a path to improve their administration by getting people to support the weaknesses they have disclosed.
Hey Steven. That's exactly it, and you said it better than I did... I think you read my posts at first one in the 25 part series about transparency... A lot of times people say that it's not a good idea because the Citizens need to not know certain things i get that but I think those people confuse transparency with full disclosure... Transparency isn't just a nice-to-have, it's the actual mechanism that makes "earned" mean something instead of just being a word the party slaps on afterward.
That's the difference between the Judiciary Committee seat and a real primary.
A real primary forces you to disclose weaknesses, because your opponents will find them for you if you don't. The party skipped that step with Harris... twice... in 2020 when nobody wanted to beat the drum on why she collapsed before Iowa... and in 2024 when they made sure nobody legally could weigh in on this.
Both times the party protected her from the exact process that would've told us, and told her, where she actually needed to improve.
You can't fix a weakness nobody's allowed to name. That's not protecting a candidate, it's setting her up to hit the same wall a third time with even less warning.

I voted for Harris without hesitation...I saw her as a sort of hero actually who stepped up in a gallant attempt to avoid the disaster we are now suffering thru. I don't believe there is such a thing as the perfect candidate...some are definitely more perfect than others tho...😆. You've read me before and you know that my publication is called uncomfortable.. sometimes it's very hard to write to these pieces ...i really appreciate this comment because it engages with the actual argument instead of assuming motives. I don't have any motives.. I just remember thinking that it was dangerous to run against Donald Trump in 2024 saying that the election of them would be the end of democracy... was a communist was quite literally anointed without a vote... Then it made me think harder and go digging as to why... I completely understand why so many people saw Kamala as stepping up during an emergency. I don't question her willingness to serve or the sincerity of the people who voted for her. I voted for her too.
Where I land differently is that emergencies don't suspend democratic principles. If anything, they make them even more important. I think the DNC put her in an almost impossible position by denying voters a real choice, and that wasn't fair to her or the country.
I also agree with you about the damage MAGA has done to our political climate. My concern is that if we let that justify abandoning our own standards, we end up weakening the very democratic values we're trying to defend.

I know that I was involved in this vigorous debates after buying dropped out about who would run… i remember a plethor of names being floated but Harris wasn't one of them… when it happened I actually thought that the DNC had looked at the Trump shooting and that news recover of him in front of all of the American flags.. In what was already a very close race and thought that that that's all that people are going to need to vote for him… and then they realize that their whole one-term plan with Biden had it worked out the way they thought, where there would be a succession planned that... and I really don't believe that they wanted to run come with her so what they did was run her in a race that they don't think the party could win anyway because it would make them look morally Superior… that's very controversial and it's very hard to say but the title of my publication is uncomfortable so I put myself out there… and if somebody actually takes time like you did to read all of the words then they'll see that I am very rarely expressing opinions.. Why do I say this? Language to a dyslexic is like Morris code always requiring one to break code just to understand what has been said.
My eyes teared up when you expressed what I not yet seen in words. Namely, you expressed and differentiated so clearly. You "very rarely expressing opinions.. I'm trying to interpret data."
And important distinction missed by many which can be expressed metaphorically whenever those who pigeon hole those with autism as being neurodiverse when science tells us even no two snowflakes are the same... However when I just recently came across the concept of the double empathy problem, voila a means to help bridge understandings gone missing earlier.
