I appreciate the peptalk. But when this Congress starts limiting him, then I will enjoy being an American again. There’s nothing wrong with not celebrating the Fourth of July as a way of using my right to protest. 250 years isn’t that special to me. I will celebrate it next year after we win the midterms.

Protest is a fundamental American right. I would never live in a country where this is not true. And, let's keep in mind, that regardless of the hyperbole we still very much live in a country where we can say whatever we want without consequence regarding the president.

But effective protests usually have a clear objective.

Boycotts seek leverage.

Demonstrations seek change.

Refusing to celebrate America's 250th birthday may be personally satisfying, but what is the intended outcome?

What specifically improves?

What would constitute success?

If the goal is to change the behavior of politicians, I'm struggling to see the connection.

Does it matter if that behavior is looked down on by the 47% of the country that identify as independent? What if that is specifically the type of behavior that actually does the opposite of accomplishing a change?

With this president, Congress and so called judges, I’m not in the mood to celebrate, but I am happy that his 4th of July antics are falling apart. Look what this bozo did to our beautiful White House and reflecting pool. That’s what happens when you lie and try to alter historical landmarks all because he wanted the pool to be darker blue to match the flag. Can you imagine what he and the so called First Lady did to the interior? I hope the next president immediately changes what they did like all the gold adornments in the oval and every executive order.

Shhh..

Mary. You know I'm a big strong man, right!? Cute?

Me want strong and savage adjectives 💪 😂

OK, Tarzan. I forgot that we two sexes have our dissimilarities.

Alls I meant by 'cute' was that your piece was simple, short, and to the point.

No complicated arguments. Sure, I like complicated arguments, but it's nice to

hear a simple point all by itself once in a while.

As to the contents of that point, I agree with you. (Or maybe you persuaded me). We can be happy for the 250th, no matter who's in the White House.

(I first wrote 'casa blanca' instead of White House, but the 'machine' changed that to 'cast balance'. You really have to proofread comments these days...)
