The common threads are stupidity & incompetence. Nothing complex or outlandish. Just common dumb ass behavior.

Robert I do want to tell you that I appreciate your comments and what you say really makes me think. It always helps when somebody connects on an intellectual level but when I get the feeling that they understand everything I'm saying before they even read on, I know that I have a rare mind in which I can draw some wisdom and have productive discussions and even debates.

I own the restaurant in Denver and I enjoyed this type of discussion pretty regularly but since I've moved to dc, it's like the soul of this geographical area has been removed and taken the people with it.

I guess my nagging integrity gene gets the best of me. I can see exactly how the game works in commonbthreads: equal parts negative partisanship + telling people what they want to hear… basically become a radio DJ taking requests while bashing Trump for applause. That formula ‘works.’

But to build something different that motivates people to look in the mirror and realize this mess goes far beyond Donald Trump is my goal. Campaign finance alone exposes how rigged the system already was. Gerrymandering, Citizens United, the Electoral College, corporate influence… our votes lost power years ago. Both parties are determined to reduce power even further.

I do think I’m getting through to people if I keep writing. It’s only been six months. But I also fear it may take something even worse before Americans demand real accountability and structural change. At this point, both parties are so corrupted by money, tribalism, and power that I genuinely don’t understand why so many people still refuse to consider alternatives.

You couldn’t survive in a minimum-wage corporate job behaving the way our government does daily. Somehow the people running the most powerful country on Earth face less accountability than a cashier who shows up late twice. Completely rational system humanity built there.

I think it’s one of the paths, non-violent, out of this morass we find ourselves stuck in. To a large extent both parties are stuck in their philosophical straight jackets, esp the GOP.

New thoughts, new vision needs to come from somewhere.

Also an Independent candidate is free of the baggage accumulated over the past years by both parties & can appeal to voters of all political factions. Actually much as the Republicans did in 1860.

So, yeah, I think that a strong Independent candidate is an attractive political solution.

I'm excited to look into Mr. Pinkins.

What do you think of the prospects of more Independents like him running for offices, up to and including, the president?

You might want to pay attention to Ty Pinkins. He’s running as an Independent for Senator in Mississippi. He has an occasional column on Substack. Good guy. Tough road. Writes well & coherently.

There are some real people there. I have family that have been in & out of government. My S-in-Law used to do flowers for Michelle & Barack.

Patience & silence & they’ll gravitate towards you.

Keep up the good work.

I’m dithering about a subscription because I hit the $500/yr mark W Substack columns & that’s kinda frightening.

Hey being able to talk with you is a great pleasure. I mean any type of combination of subscribing and engaging and enhancing my understanding is a value to me

Yeah I actually did this with AI just to show how quickly I could throw together what people want and get 10 times more clicks but we're not discussing anything that matters
