The way you describe the “revolving door” of criminal rehabilitation feels less like a policy failure and more like an architecture we quietly agreed to live inside. It reads like a building designed with no exits, only corridors that loop back on themselves, profiting each time someone passes through. I appreciate how you name the trillion-dollar cost not just in money, but in wasted humanity, stolen futures, and communities held in place like pinned butterflies. It left me thinking about how many of our systems are working perfectly, just not for the people inside them.

Probably most of them since none of them were designed by the people who have to use them.

This subject reveals very uncomfortable memories yet is So very true! Sadder still is this is the reality most Americans of color have to spend their awareness maneuvering to stay free of!

All the while the American society seems like one big trap door to their prison system! Regardless of how you choose to live your life, the wrong complexion becomes a beacon rather than offer protection like the Caucasian complexion!

I’ll never forget the look on my mother‘s face when she opened her door to see her first born son (my elder brother), along with his two best friends, arrive home fromfrom high school, being followed home by Police!

Officers had three teenage boys spread-eagle on the sidewalk in front of her door at gunpoint! Turns out to be a case of mistaken identity, “Seems ‘two blacks and one brown’ in a white car” fit the description of the perps!”

They were three responsible high school boys, trying to get home after football practice, for a bite to eat! Their completion almost got them murdered by police on his front lawn in front of his mother!

When I wrote it I can't stop thinking about how politicians don't even deliver the things they campaign on.. No one can talk about this in the campaign because you won't win enough votes... so they don't talk about it... and nothing it's none.. And time goes by... and there are so many compressive people that are just fine letting it get worse
