Compassion Needs Facts: What Really Happened During the Minneapolis ICE Protests

Breaking down media framing, federal enforcement, and why empathy alone isn’t enough to pursue justice.

Compassion Without Facts Is Not Justice

Liberalism is supposed to be a moral framework grounded in reality. It is meant to balance empathy with evidence, restraint with accountability, and power with truth. When it stops doing that—when it substitutes emotional certainty for factual accuracy—it does not become more humane. It becomes fragile.

The recent reporting and reaction surrounding the ICE enforcement action and protests in Minneapolis exposes a broader problem that extends far beyond one incident, one journalist, or one governor. It reveals a structural failure in how modern liberal spaces process information, reward narratives, and police dissent within their own ranks.

This is not an argument against compassion. It is an argument against abandoning facts in its name.
